THE SELF-COACHED GUMBY
ABOUT THE SITE
Are you a mid- to upper-moderate sport climber with a 9-to-5 but a strong desire to improve? Do you read Mountain Project and other guides only to take a wrong turn on the approach? Do you have a general psych for climbing outdoors anytime & anywhere you can?

If some or all of the above apply to you, there is a chance some of the information on this site will be of use to you!

I've always found it hard to come by all the information I need for a successful day at the crag. Most articles I find are geared towards absolute beginners, or are only helpful if you have been climbing 15-pitch 5.13 trad routes since you were 8 years old. While this site will be in no way comprehensive, I hope to provide some consistency across various climbing topics by describing first-hand experiences and honest opinions.
ABOUT ME
I'm Cam, I live in D.C. and started climbing in 2016 when my girlfriend (Victoria - also a contributor to this site) took me to the gym. After sport climbing outdoors for the first time in Red Rock Canyon early 2017, I was totally hooked.

I work an office job by day, go to the climbing gym ~4 times a week, and climb outside whenever at all possible - not so easy when the closest sizable area is the New River Gorge 6 hours away. I climb up to mid-5.12's in the local gym, which seems to translate to upper 5.11's outdoors. I predominantly sport climb, with occasional bouldering, and have exactly zero trad experience.
My goals are essentially to climb as much and as well as I can within the constraints of job/life, and to travel to the best climbing destinations.
